Legless made his way to the Storytelling Center, a man hell-bent on finishing his story. In fact, so emotional was he that he was completely unaware of Archie and Don reading his mind.

When he walked into the Storytelling Center, the manager clocked him straightaway and pulled what he thought was a homeless person aside.

“Can I help you?” he said.

“I have stories to complete,” said Legless. “Plus, I think I am a bit early.”

The manger, with no interest in what Legless meant by “early,” nodded a sympathetic “okay,” pointing him to an out-of-the-way corner.

“How about you sit over here, with some soup?”

Legless’s face lit up. “Soup? That would hit the spot.”

Legless nestled into the corner and pulled a ball of paper from his pocket; the Malteser’s packet fluttered to the floor along with the eyebrow pencil. The manager watched as Legless pressed the balled paper flat, licked the eyebrow pencil, and began to scribble.

When the pencil broke, the manager could take no more.

“Here,” he said, “some pen and paper for that story, and some bread for your soup.”
